The average family bathroom is not vast in size, however there are solutions available to create more space within your bathroom or en-suite. When you start to plan your layout here are some handy tips to help you create the illusion of space.
- Accurately measure your bathroom layout, marking down all waste/water supplies, radiators, windows and doors.
- Toilet positioning can be tricky and expensive, so where possible leave it where it is.
- The door opening – can this be hung to open outwards giving more space within the bathroom?
Another way to create more space is by removing any radiators or towel rails and replacing them with a heated towel rail – incorporating two items into one. By placing the heated towel rail high off the ground you will keep the floor space and when positioned above the end of the bath it is practical and uses wasted space.
If you would rather have a shower instead of a bath or have enough room to have a shower in your bathroom – a sliding quadrant is the best space saving enclosure as it will fit neatly into a corner and as the door slide internally it will take up no unnecessary space for a door opening.
To finish off the space illusion, try and not add too much into one small room. Choose light colours and large tiles, the less tile lines the larger the room will appear. Using large mirrored surfaces will bounce lightaround the room creating a light and open space.
